Understanding Henry County Releases
“Released” describes more than one custody event in Henry County. A person may leave Henry County Jail after bond, a pretrial order, dismissal, time served, or completion of a county sentence. Another person may leave the building only because IDOC, another county, the U.S. Marshals Service, or an agency with a detainer takes custody. A detainer is a request by another authority to hold or receive the person. That transfer is not a return to the community.
The Henry County Sheriff controls the jail’s physical exit and disposition record. The Circuit Clerk controls the court order, judgment, sentence, or dismissal. IDOC controls state-prison status, projected dates, parole or mandatory supervised release, and final discharge. VINE reports custody changes supplied by participating agencies, while BOP and ICE cover their own federal systems. These sources answer separate questions. Compare them before deciding where a released person went.
- Time served
- Release after the custodial term and credited time are satisfied.
- Discharge
- Completion of the sentence and any supervision, not merely departure from a prison.
- Parole or MSR
- Release from an IDOC institution while state supervision continues.
- Probation
- A court sentence supervised in the community, distinct from release by IDOC.
Henry County Release Routes
Henry County Jail houses criminal suspects, people serving county sentences, and temporary detainees held for outside agencies. The exit route depends on that legal status. A court-authorized release may include bond or pretrial conditions. Time served may end a county term. A prison sentence can send the person to IDOC rather than home. Staff also check warrants and holds before completing release, so an order authorizing release does not guarantee an immediate community exit.
| Route | Meaning | Best next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or pretrial release | The court permits community release, often with conditions. | Jail release record and court docket |
| Time served or county term complete | Local custody ends after the applicable calculation. | Sheriff record and sentencing order |
| Transfer to IDOC | County custody ends, but state custody begins. | IDOC Individual in Custody Search |
| Release to detainer | Another authority receives the person. | Jail disposition and receiving agency |
| IDOC parole or MSR | Prison placement ends while state supervision continues. | IDOC status, dates, and parole records |
| Final discharge | The sentence and supervision have ended. | IDOC discharge data or official record |
Probation is different again. Henry County Court Services supervises a court sentence in the community; it is not proof of a prior IDOC placement. The controlling record should match the event being checked.
Henry County Release Record Fields
No public Henry County online release record or fixed field list was found in the official web sweep completed July 16, 2026. A focused Sheriff FOIA request should ask for records rather than asking staff to answer broad questions. Give a full name, a distinguishing identifier when known, and a booking or admission date range. State that the request concerns the release and disposition tied to that booking.
| Requested field | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Booking or admission date | Connects the response to the correct jail episode. |
| Release date and time | Shows when Henry County Jail completed the exit. |
| Disposition code or narrative | Distinguishes bond, time served, court release, or transfer. |
| Legal authority | Identifies the order or basis staff acted upon. |
| Bond or pretrial terms | May document releasable conditions tied to the arrest record. |
| Destination agency | Shows whether custody continued after leaving the jail. |
| Jail-register entry | Provides the durable administrative entry for the event. |
| Booking photograph | May be supplied if available, releasable, and correctly identified. |
A destination agency matters as much as the date. “Released to IDOC” must not be shortened to “released to the community.” Likewise, a court order shows judicial authority but may not show the exact minute that jail processing ended.
Request Henry County Release Records
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office links its official FOIA form and identifies the local records route. The form is a scanned document, so use the current version rather than relying on an assumed list of requester fields. Illinois FOIA generally calls for a response within five business days for a noncommercial request, subject to a permitted five-business-day extension. Fees and exemptions depend on the record and format.
- Identify the person and the narrow booking or date range.
- Request the booking, jail-register, release-date, release-time, and disposition records.
- Ask for the receiving agency and transfer date if custody continued.
- Submit the current Sheriff FOIA form through the office’s stated channel.
- Save the response and compare the disposition with the court or receiving agency.

Retention is not published as an online post-release window because Henry County does not publish the feed. Sealed or expunged material may be withheld or removed from public access. An expungement erases or destroys qualifying records as the law directs, while sealing restricts public access but does not always destroy the record.
Illinois Rules for Henry Releases
5 ILCS 140/2.15 identifies arrest-report information that law-enforcement agencies must make available, including an arrestee photograph when available, subject to lawful limits. The general response procedure appears in 5 ILCS 140/3; fees are addressed in section 6, and exemptions in section 7.
Public access is not unlimited. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, exempt, and protected information may be withheld or redacted under Illinois law.
Illinois expungement and sealing rules are set out in 20 ILCS 2630/5.2. A missing search result cannot prove that relief was granted. Confirm the court order and ask the originating agency to correct its own record when the underlying official data is wrong.
When Henry County Releases Occur
The Henry County jail rules state that release normally occurs around 10 a.m., yet processing can occur at any point in the 24-hour span of the release date. Bonding is available at all times. An early morning call may therefore be too soon, and a court event may precede physical release while staff complete checks, property return, paperwork, or a transfer.
Ask for the actual release timestamp and disposition. Those two fields separate a planned date from a completed exit and distinguish community release from continued custody.
Travel After a Henry Release
Abilities Plus operates Henry County Public Transportation, an accessible service described as open to anyone. The published contact number is 309-854-7433. No official source promises a jail stop, so a rider or family member should confirm reservations, operating hours, eligibility, fare details, pickup location, and whether a same-day ride is possible before relying on it.
Transportation evidence does not establish custody status. First confirm that release was completed, then make a pickup plan with the carrier or another trusted ride.
Henry Pretrial Release Decisions
The Henry County Adult Pretrial Unit interviews people in custody and gives verified information to the court for release decisions and conditions. It can then monitor court-ordered terms. This local role explains why pretrial release should not be confused with time served, dismissal, probation, or an IDOC release.
The court record proves the judicial decision. The jail record proves when staff carried it out. If a condition is at issue, use the filed order rather than inferring terms from a custody change.
Find Released Henry County Inmates
Start with the custody system tied to the event. Henry County has no official online roster or recent-release feed documented in the research sweep. For a recent local jail exit, call the jail and request the durable Sheriff record. For a prison sentence or a person leaving Kewanee Life Skills Re-Entry Center, use IDOC. Court, VINE, BOP, and ICE then fill distinct gaps.
- Call Henry County Jail for a recent operational check.
- Request the Sheriff release and disposition record for lasting proof.
- Check the Henry County Judici docket for the judicial action.
- Search IDOC when the person entered or left state custody.
- Use Illinois VINELink for a participating custody-change notice.
- Use BOP or ICE only when federal or immigration custody is relevant.
A released person normally drops off a current-custody list. A missing name does not identify the release date, reason, destination, or receiving authority.
The Released Last 24 Hours page applies this chain to same-day inquiries. A future IDOC estimate belongs in the Inmate Release Date process, not in proof that release already occurred.
IDOC Search for Henry Releases
The IDOC Individual in Custody Search is the correct public route for a person sentenced to Illinois prison. Search by last name, IDOC number, or birth date, then read the whole result. A state result may show Offender Status, Location, Admission Date, Projected Parole Date, Last Paroled Date, Projected Discharge Date, sentence counts, county, and whether each sentence count is discharged. An older count marked discharged does not end another active count.
| Field | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Offender Status | Shows the current IDOC category, such as custody or parole. |
| Location | Identifies the IDOC placement or reported status location. |
| Projected Parole Date | Often estimates prison exit to MSR for a determinate sentence. |
| Last Paroled Date | Can support that an actual prison exit occurred. |
| Projected Discharge Date | Estimates the later end of the sentence and supervision. |
| Sentence Discharged? | Applies to that sentencing block, not always the whole record. |
The official IDOC search landing page shows where the state begins its record search.

If a fully discharged person no longer appears, use IDOC FOIA. Written confirmation is safer than treating a changing public result as permanent.
Henry County Recent Release Records
As of July 16, 2026, the official Sheriff, Corrections, Records, directory, site map, and targeted searches revealed no Henry County roster, 24-hour list, 72-hour list, recent-release feed, or inmate app. That bounded finding does not mean the jail lacks an internal management record. It means there is no supportable public feed URL, update schedule, field list, retention period, or photo policy to quote.
Use the jail phone for a fresh check and FOIA for a record. The Sheriff Records Division also provides archived reports, but an arrest report alone does not prove the later release. Avoid results for McHenry County or Henry counties in other states.
Henry Release Supervision Records
IDOC parole or mandatory supervised release follows a state-prison exit. Henry County probation follows a local court sentence. The Illinois Prisoner Review Board handles specified parole decisions, conditions, revocation functions, and final-discharge matters, while the IDOC Parole Division supervises people released from prison. Henry County Court Services handles local probation and pretrial monitoring.
Confirm the type before calling an office. IDOC status and Last Paroled Date help verify a prison exit; the filed sentencing order identifies probation. A person may live outside prison and still remain supervised. The Parole / Probation record paths explain how each form of Henry County supervision ends.
Henry Release Alerts and Locators
Illinois VINELink can show a custody status, reporting agency, or location when a matching participating record is supplied. County participation is not listed in a complete official statewide inventory, so confirm Henry County coverage through a result, VINE support, or the jail. Registering for an alert complements the agency record; it does not replace it.
The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal custody. “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” speaks only to BOP custody and cannot prove a Henry County Jail release. ICE’s locator can cover current detention and some people released within its limited recent period. A no-result may reflect spelling, identifier, transfer, removal, release, exclusion, or expired display. No active federal prison or ICE detention center was identified in Henry County.
Match Henry Releases to Records
Choose the record by sovereign and custody stage. A live roster, where offered, answers who is held now. A release or disposition record answers how a past jail episode ended. State and federal locators cannot be substituted for the Sheriff’s local record.
| Question | Controlling source | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| Did the person physically leave Henry County Jail? | Jail check and Sheriff release record | A court order may predate processing. |
| What did the judge order? | Circuit Clerk or Judici docket | The docket may not show the exit time. |
| Did state custody or MSR begin or end? | IDOC search and records | Projected dates are not actual dates. |
| Was a custody-change alert issued? | VINE | Coverage and retention depend on feeds. |
| Did federal custody end? | BOP locator and federal docket | Other custody may still continue. |
| Is ICE custody current or recently ended? | ICE locator | No result has several possible causes. |
Henry County Release Facilities
Two facilities require separate search paths. Henry County Jail is operated by the Sheriff and holds local defendants, county-sentence inmates, and temporary detainees. Its exits may lead to the community, IDOC, another county, or another authority. Kewanee Life Skills Re-Entry Center is an IDOC institution. Leaving Kewanee may mean transfer, parole or MSR, final discharge, or release to a detainer.
The facility’s location in Henry County does not change who owns the record. Sheriff records govern the county jail. IDOC records govern Kewanee.
Kewanee State Release Records
Kewanee Life Skills Re-Entry Center focuses on qualified adult men generally within one to four years of sentence completion. It opened in 2017 and reported an operational capacity of 682 with a population of 192 on June 30, 2024. Those figures describe an IDOC reentry site, not a Henry County booking facility.
A person leaving Kewanee may transfer within IDOC, start MSR or parole, discharge, or go to a detainer. Read Offender Status and Location together, then compare projected and actual fields. The Kewanee facility record and IDOC release procedures control this state path.
Property After a Henry Release
Henry County’s jail rules require property and clothing pickup after release or transfer. Property left for 30 days is disposed of, while food left for three days is disposed of. That local deadline makes the release disposition and date useful beyond proving custody status. A transferred person or authorized contact should confirm the facility’s current pickup process.
IDOC follows a separate release process. Its directive addresses return of original identification and a residency-document route connected with a no-charge state identification card for qualifying release processing. Do not apply the jail’s property rule to Kewanee or treat IDOC identification steps as Sheriff policy.
Henry Court Release Verification
The Henry County Circuit Clerk records page routes online case searches to Judici while retaining email, fax, phone, and in-person channels. The Cambridge office handles general court records. The Kewanee Division lists a narrower filing role for traffic citations, ordinance violations, and conservation tickets.
The official court routes are shown on the county records-search page.

Henry Jail Records Complex
Henry County’s jail history spans buildings dating to 1854, 1868, and 1928, a 1974 addition, and the Jail and Court Services addition completed in 1999 at a reported cost of $8.7 million. The modern shared complex places the jail, Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, State’s Attorney, probation, and courtrooms near one another.
That layout helps explain why one release inquiry may touch several offices. The jail documents physical custody. The clerk holds the case file. Probation or pretrial staff monitor court-ordered conditions. Their records should be reconciled, not blended into one unsupported conclusion.
